Film Review – Trick ‘r Treat (2007)

Film: Trick ‘r Treat
Released: 2007
Director: Michael Dougherty
Stars: Anna Paquin, Brian Cox, Dylan Baker, Tahmoh Penikett

Synopsis:
Four interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: An everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the one guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; a woman who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband.

What I thought of it:
Garbage. Utter garbage. I’ve seen some bad so-called horror movies i my time, but this was just tacky and the worst kind of rubbish. The interwoven stories were actually more just a series of very loosely connected horror sketches that were predictable from start to finish. There are plenty of recognisable faces involved, but I cannot fathom why any of them agreed to play a part in this incredibly weak offering. There are no scares and there is no humour (which would at least make the lack of terror more acceptable, if not entirely excusable), there is just tedium.

Rating: Like a Star @ heaven
Avoid at all costs.
