J M Barrie describes how fairies came into being in his novel, Peter Pan and Wendy:
“You see, Wendy, when the first baby laughed for the first time, its laugh broke into a thousand pieces, and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies.”
For a little while now, Button has been making little squeaks in lieu of laughing, but this evening, he finally found his full-on giggle. Of course, his big brother, Tadpole, was the source of his amusement!
So, we’ve been making fairies all evening!
