The taste of summer!

Anyone who has read my blog over recent weeks will know I’ve been slightly obsessed with green smoothies. Well, the 30-day challenge is now finished and I completed it by drinking one green smoothie every day throughout May (which means I actually did an extra day – hurrah!). I really enjoyed the challenge and will definitely continue with green smoothies, although perhaps not every day.

However, as I love smoothies so much, I thought I’d share with you a recipe I threw together this morning for a delicious non-green smoothie (although it could easily be made green with the addition of a handful of spinach or something similar). This one just smacks of summer!

Cherry Bomb Smoothie
Ingredients:

  • 200mls fresh orange juice
  • 1 apple (peeled and cored)
  • 1 banana (peeled ad frozen)
  • 10 sweet red cherries (stoned)

Whiz it all up in your blender till smooth and drink it – it couldn’t be simpler! Freezing the banana means your smoothie is lovely and cold, and it’s very easy to do – simply peel the banana, wrap it in cling film or put it into a small food fab (pressing out the air) and pop it in the freezer over night. In the morning, your banana is frozen and ready to use – just break it into two or three chunks to make it easier for your blender to handle.
