Film review – Killing Them Softly (2012)

killing them softlyFilm: Killing Them Softly
Released: 2012
Director: Andrew Dominik
Stars: Brad Pitt, Ray Liotta, Richard Jenkins, James Gandolfini

Synopsis:
Jackie Cogan is an enforcer hired to restore order after three dumb guys rob a Mob protected card game, causing the local criminal economy to collapse.

What I thought of it:
A group of people got together and decided it was a good idea to make this film. They were the real dumb guys.

With a cast that includes Brad Pitt and Ray Liotta (not to mention the others), you expect a little bang for your buck. As it was, Pitt doesn’t even show up for the first third of the film. That, however, is not why it’s bad. It’s just boring from start to finish. There’s far too much yabba-yabba and not enough entertainment value. I did hear Hubby give a few snorts at various points, but based on his own review of this film, I’m pretty certain they were snorts of derision, not suppressed laughter.

This is quite possibly the most boring film I have ever watched. I was actually angry at wasting 97 minutes of my life on this sh*t. It’s not just sh*t – it’s the sh*t that comes out of sh*t when it has the sh*ts!

I would highly recommend avoiding this film at all costs unless you are an insomniac looking for a way to finally get some sleep.

Rating: Like a Star @ heaven
Absolutely nothing to recommend it. If I never see another film by this director, it will be too soon for my liking.
